In Niger, a country with a hot climate and high temperatures all year round, the solar street light project is particularly important. The three locations of Baroua, Ngagam and Diffa are all located in the southeast of Niger, close to the Lake Chad region, and belong to the Diffa Province, which is one of the areas in Niger that is most severely affected by terrorism and humanitarian crises. These areas not only face the challenges of extreme poverty and security issues, especially conflicts with extremist organizations such as Boko Haram, but the impact of climate change has also made life more difficult for local residents. In this context, the solar street light project can not only provide night lighting and improve the quality of life of local residents, but also reduce dependence on traditional energy and reduce energy costs, which is particularly important for a country with extremely low electricity supply.
In 2021, INLUXSOLAR partnered with our African partner company and successfully supplied the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide 1750 sets of solar street lights for the cities of Baroua and Diffa in Niger, which not only need to adapt to extreme weather conditions but also ensure long-term stable operation.
Our solar street lights adopt the APPOLO Split Type model, whose battery is under the solar panel. This not only improves maintenance convenience but also enhances equipment safety.
Considering the high-temperature working environment, we use the high voltage (25.6V) and low working current proposal, which effectively reduces the heat generated by the system during operation.
The battery adopts a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery, which is particularly suitable for high-temperature environments due to its excellent stable performance under high temperatures. LiFePO4 (Lithium iron phosphate) batteries are not only smaller in size and lighter in weight but also have a longer lifetime and lower maintenance costs, which are becoming the main battery type of high-quality solar street lighting systems.
The solar controller adopts the MPPT type, which can achieve 99% charging efficiency and ensure that solar street lights can fully utilize solar energy resources under strong sunlight conditions in Niger. Also, our MPPT solar controller has high-temperature protection functions, which can adjust the working current to reduce the temperature if the environment temperature is above 80℃。
In the production process, we used first-class raw materials, and we did the high-temperature tests of the key components to ensure that every set of solar street lights can work stably in extreme weather conditions.
Our service team provided the installation manual and videos, and did online meetings for the local installation team, which greatly fast the installation, After installation, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) shortly surveyed the installed project accepted all the equipment, and especially praised our solar street lights for their high brightness and 100% success rate. These solar street lights effectively solved the local nighttime lighting problem, greatly facilitating the lives of residents. They not only provide necessary lighting, but also help improve road safety, promote nighttime economic activities, and bring tangible benefits to local communities.
Through this project, we have deeply experienced the important role of solar street lights in improving rural infrastructure in Niger. INLUXSOLAR focuses on the research and development, production, and sales of solar lighting products. We are committed to providing sustainable lighting solutions to regions in need worldwide through innovative technologies, improving people’s living conditions, and lighting up the path of hope.We believe that every beam of light can illuminate a dream, and every aid can warm a soul.
